Saint Nectarios directed the Rizarios Ecclesiastical School from 1894 to 1908. The institution’s own archive is one of the strongest documentary sources for his mature life.
Director and educator
The Rizarios institution records that he was chosen Director on 1 March 1894 and took up his duties on 10 March. He served for fourteen years. His role combined administration with teaching, worship and pastoral formation.
The old and present school
During Nectarios’s directorship the school was on Vasilissis Sofias Street in central Athens. The institution moved to Chalandri in 1960–61. The Church of St George from the old Rizarios site survives in central Athens.
Digital archive
The Rizarios Foundation now maintains a digital repository of more than 47,000 searchable items. Its Saint Nectarios collection includes institutional records, correspondence and objects associated with him. This site will progressively index the Nectarios material rather than duplicating the archive.
